In the late 1800's, the coming of the Railroad to the Northern Plains provided a way for folks from the East to travel West. Many, curious about the Western lifestyle, stayed with ranchers in their bunkhouses and guest rooms and helped out with ranch chores in exchange for meals. Easterners were easily identified by their "duds." Westerners eventually referred to their new found friends as "dudes"!

Sylvan Dale carries on the "dude" ranching tradition, offering Western life-style adventures to folks from all over the world, still fondly called "dudes"!

You couldn't be in better hands. We have over half a century (66 years and counting!) of experience in the dude ranch industry. You can be assured that your time with us is both safe and memorable.

We raise and train our herd of registered Quarter horses so you can count on a reliable, responsive, handsome mount! Daily riding instruction gives you the opportunity to increase your riding skills. Our 3,200 acres of foothills beauty give you room to roam!

Our cow-calf operation is the authentic West. You can participate in cattle work, round- ups, team penning, and cattle drives. (Check weekly activity schedule.)

If you are an angler, you will appreciate the private Ranch fishery managed for wild trout habitat.

Over 70% of our land is under conservation easement. Your view is protected and so is the wildlife!

Our low (mile high) elevation is perfect for multi-generational families. No high-altitude adjustment here. Breathe easy the minute you arrive!

A short 80-minute drive from Denver International Airport reduces the travel challenge. Ground transportation can bring you directly to our door!
