Are
you ready for a rafting adventure? White water
rafting is offered to our summer
dude ranch guests through a separate company.
The rafting trip is scheduled on the Lower
Cache la Poudre River, Colorado's only National Wild
& Scenic River. The trip is approximately
4.5 miles, usually Class II and Class III rapids (water
flows vary, but the trip is considered intermediate
to advanced intermediate in difficulty). A bus
will pick you up from the ranch around 12 noon (after
an early lunch) and will have you back for dinner
by 6:00 pm.
Age Limit: You must be 7 years
or older to go rafting – no exceptions.
Things To Bring: Your sense of adventure!
Wear a swimsuit and bring a towel, sunglasses with
a strap, sunscreen, aqua shoes (or tennis shoes),
and clothes that dry fast (polypropelene, fleece or
nylon). Cotton T-shirts are best left in the
bus, as they just get soaked, so you should bring
a change of clothes, and you won’t have to ride
back wet... and YOU WILL GET WET! Don’t
bring: jeans, boots, jewelry or valuables!
Wet Suit Rental: Wet suits can be rented from
the rafting company. They usually have enough
to outfit everyone who’s on the river that day.
For $10.00, you get a wetsuit, booties and
a splash jacket. Just the splash jacket is $3.75,
and does keep a lot of the water off you, but if you
get cold easy, go with the wetsuit! In hot weather,
though, it’s usually just fine with what you’re
wearing and your lifejacket.
Charges:
Rafting charges will be added to your ranch bill.
Any extra charges incurred such as photos (which
are shot during the rapids!), store items and wet
suits are paid directly to the rafting company.
Credit cards, cash or checks are best carried in a
waterproof pack of some sort, but you can also leave
your things on the bus with some “security”
as the bus driver stays on the bus while we’re
rafting.
Reservations and Cancellations: Please sign
up as early as possible after you make your reservations
at the Ranch. Rafting space is limited and based on
a first-come, first-served basis. The rafting
company will not automatically hold space for us after
May 15, so if you’re sure you want to go rafting,
please let us know as soon as possible.
The Rafting Company has adopted the following policy
on cancellations:
- Rafting reservations cancelled after May 15 are
charged a 15% cancellation fee. By reserving space
after this date, you will automatically be charged
at least $6.75 per person whether you go on the
trip or not.
- Cancellations made less than 10 days prior to
your scheduled trip are nonrefundable.
- Assumption of Risk Form. All rafters need
to sign a release form provided by and for the rafting
company, and anyone under the age of 18 must have
a guardian present to sign for them.
