Benefits of Rock Climbing: Benefits of Rock Climbing:

The biomechanics of climbing requires the use of just about every major muscle, as a result, rock climbing offers the climber an excellent total body workout.

Similar to many other rigorous sports, climbing has many secondary benefits too. Each climb is different. You need to use critical thinking to determine to best line or path up the face of a wall.

When you reach the apex of a challenging climb you'll discover increased confidence, confidence that will transfer into other areas of your life.

Rock climbing at Sylvan Dale is very safe. We use only the best practices and precautions to ensure a safe, pleasant climbing experience. Although rock climbing can be easy it demands strength, patience, judgment, and determination to excel.

  • Strength: Achieving perfect balance can be harder than it looks! Climbing will work your arms, legs and back the most, but also your mid-section, fingers and toes! If you aren't conditioned to climbing, be sure to take it easy, if you push too hard you'll discover lots of "new" muscles the next morning!
  • Patience: Intelligent and skillful climbing requires careful planning and thoughtful advance up the wall. Often the best "move" is taking time for a break to access the most effective course of action.
  • Judgment: To be a good climber you need to know and appreciate your limits. You want to use sound judgment when challenging yourself on a difficult climb. You'll be encouraged to stretch yourself, but you know your comfort level best—don't push yourself too hard.
  • Determination: Anyone can take the easy path but not you—you enjoy a good challenge right?! But when your muscles start to ache and burn you'll need firm resolve to make it the top, just like in life!

All participants are required to sign an Assumption of Risk form. Minimum age to climb is 6. Please contact the front desk for details.
