Over 1800 acres
preserved with conservation easements |
The
Jessup Family is committed to the preservation of land
and wildlife habitat for future generations. Starting
in 1995 in a family meeting involving four generations,
we developed a master plan which will eventually result
in preserving 90 percent of our 3,200 acres under conservation
easement. These are legally binding donations
of land rights to qualified conservation organizations,
such as the Larimer County Open Lands and Parks Department,
and the Legacy Land Trust, which are charged with protecting
the land from development in perpetuity.
In
2004, Sylvan Dale Ranch received a conservation award
from the Larimer County Open Lands Board, which expressed
its appreciation for creating conservation easements
worth $2.65 million, of which $1.35 million was in the
form of donations. "The land protected is
spectacular and the wildlife habitat is priceless,"
the Open Lands group reported.
