What
to Bring
For
Horseback Riding. Long pants,
long-sleeved shirts and closed shoes with a heel for
riding. Boots are best, but stout tennies with a heel
will work too. You’ll need a cowboy hat or cap
to protect you from the sun while on the trail and
your favorite sunscreen. Remember, you’re closer
to the sun in the Rockies! Bring your personal riding
safety helmet, if you have one. (Highly recommended.)
Safety helmets for children and youth are now mandatory
and will be provided if your child does not have one.
We also have a limited number of helmets for adults.
For Fly Fishing: Light-weight waders, six-weight
fly rods. We have equipment to rent, including float
tubes, rods, and waders. The Gift shop has a good
assortment of flies, leaders, tippets, sunglasses,
and other items.
For Summertime:
Comfortable, casual clothes - jeans, shorts, T-shirts
and a sweatshirt or light jacket. If staying for the week on Ranch, bring enough clothes to last. There
are no laundry facilities. We do have pick up and drop off laundry service if you wish.
You may also want to plan one outfit for Western Dance
Night and the Friday Ranch Party.
Don’t forget your camera – there are lots
of photo ops!
Personal toiletries.
Bring a swimming suit. The pool is
a refreshing spot and both tubing in the river and
white-water rafting are popular pastimes on hot days, and after a day of riding, there is nothing better than a soak in the hot tub.
For Winter: What you’d expect, except
you should come prepared for the mild days as well
– there are a surprising number of days in the
60s and 70s. You won’t need snowshoes.
For Spring and Fall: Early spring and late
fall are unpredictable. So bring clothing that you
can layer, to warm up or cool down as the weather
changes. As they say in Colorado, if you don’t
like the weather, just wait five minutes and it will
change.
A
few final tips to lighten your load: the Ranch
Gift Shop sells T-shirts and sweatshirts, disposable
cameras, hats (cowboy and floppy), sun block, chap
stick, snacks, bottled water, special souvenirs and
great gifts for the folks back home. You can always
borrow a hat from the Stable Saloon and we provide
slickers on your saddle in case of storms.
Vacation
Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend travel insurance to protect
your deposit. Unforeseen circumstances can spoil a
vacation, but it doesn’t have to damage your
pocketbook if you’re protected. We recommend
Travelguard, used by many in the Colorado Dude and
Guest Ranch Association. Contact www.travelguard.com,
or call 1-800-826-4919 (U.S.) Toll Free, or 1-715-345-0505
(International Collect).

Airport Shuttles
The Shamrock-Airport Express serves Loveland from
Denver International Airport. The trip to Loveland
takes about 1 hour and twenty minutes. Shuttle reservations
are recommended to avoid the risk of having to wait
and to confirm the latest schedule. The shuttle will
bring you to a drop point close to the Ranch.
The shuttle Leaves the airport 20 minutes after the
hour and operates from 6 AM to 11 PM.
Plan
on a 30-minute ride to the Ranch from this drop point.
At times Shamrock will take guests all the way to
the Ranch, if the driver’s schedule permits
